Senior Associate Promotions at LXP

We are delighted to announce that three of our attorneys have been promoted to Senior Associate positions.  The promotions cover all of our key practice areas: Litigation, Real Estate, and Financial Services.

 

Chizelle Cargill  (Litigation)

Chizelle joined the firm in 2012. Her practice focuses on commercial and general litigation claims, including contracts, banking, insolvency, fraud, personal injury, professional negligence, employment and family law.  Chizelle has appeared as junior counsel in the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal in The Bahamas. She has also appeared as junior counsel before the Judicial Committee of Her Majesty’s Privy Council in the decision of Junkanoo Estates Bahamas Ltd et al v UBS (Bahamas) Ltd (In Voluntary Liquidation [2017] UKPC 8. In this landmark case, Chizelle helped to obtain a ruling that clarified the long-standing confusion over the concurrent jurisdictions between the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal, when applying for leave to appeal to the Court of Appeal in The Bahamas.

Nateisha L. Anderson-Bain (Real Estate and Resort Development)

Nateisha joined the firm in 2013 and specialises in representing purchasers and vendors in buying and selling residential and commercial property, as well as representing mortgagees and mortgagors in secured financing transactions.   Nateisha assisted with the representation of Export-Import Bank of China and Deloitte & Touche in the distressed sale of the $2.5 billion Baha Mar Resort, the mezzanine secured lenders in a $1.75 billion refinancing of the Atlantis Resort, and Access Industries Inc in the $150 million purchase of the One&Only Ocean Club in The Bahamas.

Dwayne Whylly (Financial Services)

Dwayne joined the firm in 2014.  He advises on a broad range of corporate and financing transactions, including private M&A, corporate restructurings, joint ventures, private equity investments and secured and unsecured corporate asset and project financing.   Dwayne was the lead attorney on a number of recent high profile mergers and acquisitions involving Bahamian entities, including the sale by Steiner Leisure Limited of the Elemis cosmetics line to L’Occitane, the business combination between Haymaker Acquisition Corp and OneSpaWorld Holdings Limited and the listing of OneSpaWorld Holdings Limited on NASDAQ and the acquisition by Parkland Fuel Corporation of 75% of SOL Investment Limited, the largest independent fuel marketer in the Caribbean.
