Lennox Paton ranked top offshore firm in Chambers High Net Worth 2020
We are delighted that Lennox Paton has once again been awarded a Band 1 ranking for Offshore Trusts in The Bahamas in the 2020 edition of the Chambers and Partners High Net Worth Guide.
Individually, there is recognition for Brian Simms QC and Michael Paton, who both achieved a Band 1 ranking, and Arthur Seligman, who achieved a Band 2 ranking.
Chambers High Net Worth guide is a publication specifically aimed at the international private wealth market. The guide also recommends leading accountancy firms, private banks, wealth managers, trust companies and other professional advisers to HNW and UHNW clients around the world.
In retaining its status as a Band 1 ranked law firm in the Bahamas, industry sources comment Lennox Paton is“one of the top firms on the island and provides steady and solid advice in a variety of matters.” The firm has a strong reputation for cross-border trusts matters, particularly trusts disputes work in the Bahamian courts. One source says Lennox Paton is “one of the strongest firms in the Bahamas” and another describes it as “the best firm in the Bahamas and my go-to name for big and complex matters.”

Brian Simms QC (Band 1)
Senior partner and head of the litigation practice Brian Simms QC is a hugely admired practitioner in this market. One of Simms’ Bahamian peers reports that “he does some big trust litigation work and is one of the few attorneys on the island to do this to a high level.” A local fiduciary describes Simms as “a brilliant litigator and a steady hand,” adding that “he has very interesting thoughts on complex matters and is good to bounce ideas off.” Simms also attracts strong praise from onshore lawyers for his work on high-value Bahamas trusts cases. Michael Paton is a highly experienced practitioner who is described as being “very good at trust structuring and general planning matters.” He is seen as “a top-level lawyer” who is“very good” for this work.
Arthur Seligman (Band 2)
Arthur Seligman leads the firm’s trusts and foundations group and is lauded as “a well-known litigator who has acted in some major trust cases.” A market insider notes: “He is very good and is responsive and knowledgeable.”
