Queen’s Counsel Appointment for Metta MacMillan-Hughes

On 17 December 2021, Metta MacMillan-Hughes, a Partner of Lennox Paton, was appointed a Queen’s Counsel. Such appointment, the highest honour in the legal profession, is a recognition of her outstanding skills as an advocate and her considerable years of practice in giving advice in specialist fields of law.

Metta is recognised as a leading commercial and civil litigator in The Bahamas. Held in high regard by the judiciary and her peers, her submissions in several cases have precipitated amendments to the law in the fields of insolvency and of company law. 

Although her experience and practice covers the full spectrum of civil and commercial litigation she has particular expertise in cross border Insolvencies; Insurance litigation, Asset recovery and International Proceeds of Crime proceedings. 

Also a leading Family Law specialist and fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers, Metta frequently acts for HNW international families in divorce, trust disputes and the negotiation of pre and post Nuptial Agreements.
